Auburn Campus Club visits DAC Foundation Museum & Gallery

Now that we are starting to see the light at the end of "Pandemic-Time," what lies ahead?.

In January of 2020, the DAC Foundation calendar was booked solid with large and small events, both local and out-of-town. The schedule was poised to be the most robust schedule to date. However, by the end of February 2020, our educational programs and exhibitions came to a halt. Wanting to make the most of "pandemic-time" and our financial and human resources, we worked harder than ever behind the scenes to ensure our mission continued in earnest by quickly shifting our focus to long-term projects.

With "pandemic-time" winding down, it's time to start filling our calendar once again and cautiously proceed with the planning of future programs and exhibitions. During regular times, we typically plan our programs and exhibitions at least a year in advance. We are once again receiving requests for out-of-town programs, and our 2022 calendar is beginning to fill up. Soon we will release details about some of our upcoming 2022 events.

Dixie Art Colony Foundation DOWNTOWN WETUMPKA Tour, March 30, 2021

After pausing our programs and exhibitions for an entire year, last week, we held our first program and tour since February of 2020 here in Wetumpka. On March 30, 2021, the Foundation hosted a group of 34 COVID-19 vaccinated individuals from Auburn, Alabama. With safety in mind, we started the day outdoors in downtown Wetumpka, then split the group in half before going indoors. Thank you to MARCIA WEBER of Marcia Weber Art Objects, located at 118 East Bridge Street, for co-hosting this group. Half of the group started at Marcia Weber Art Objects, and the other started at the DAC Foundation Museum & Gallery at 219 Hill Street. After rotating the groups, we then proceeded to a large meeting room at Trinity Episcopal Church, where boxed lunches from downtown Wetumpka's Grumpy Dog were served. After lunch, Mark Harris, founder, and director of the DAC Foundation, presented a video and slide presentation about the Dixie Art Colony and some of the colony artists.

Provided COVID-19 continues its downward trajectory, we hope to resume gallery hours at 219 Hill Street in mid-May. Our Spring Gallery Exhibition will feature many of our NEW ACQUISITIONS. We have tentatively rescheduled our month-long exhibition and program series, titled "A Retrospective of the Works of Carlos Alpha 'Shiney' Moon," for this coming September in Andalusia, Alabama.
