Artists of the Dixie Art Colony
During the period between 1933 and 1948, more than 140 men and women from many walks of life participated in Dixie Art Colony. Instructors included well-known artists RICHARD COE, LAMAR DODD, KELLY FITZPATRICK, and ANNE GOLDTHWAITE.
Most of the Colonists were from the Deep South. Of the colony regulars, only Amanda Moon (Erisman) and the Thoma sisters Antoinette and Augusta hailed from outside the Deep South.
