PRIVATE SHOWING: Kelly Fitzpatrick

On WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 2017, members and guests of the Dixie Art Colony Foundation enjoyed a private tour of works by John Kelly Fitzpatrick. The tour took place at the Alabama Department of Archives & History and the Alabama State Captiol.

Thank you Graham Neeley, Museum Curator and Ryan Blocker, Collections Curator at the Alabama Department of Archives and History for conducting a private tour of works by John Kelly Fitzpatrick. The majority of the works shown are not currently on display for public viewing. The works shown included a 1935 map of the city of Montgomery drawn and illustrated by Fitzpatrick and a rare Fitzpatrick work executed using pastels. Pastels are a powdered pigment rolled into round or square sticks.

After the tour, DAC Foundation members and guests enjoyed a nice lunch at Wentzell's Oyster House located in the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa.

Based on the overwhelming response we received to this program, we are in the process of scheduling a date for an encore tour. From our initial email, we received more than twice the number of reservations we could comfortably accommodate; therefore the encore tour has already reached capacity. If there is enough interest, we might consider a third tour. Anyone interested should send a request to:  info@DixieArtColony.org
