Foundation “Lunch & Learn” Programs Resume

Thank you to those who joined us for our first public DAC Foundation LUNCH & LEARN program since the COVID-19 pandemic prompted us to suspend our public events. We had a great crowd, including some new faces. Shown are photographs of the commission by artist Steve Garst unveiled at the event. Soon we will provide details to the public about our exciting schedule for the next three months.

Steve Garst is a 1969 graduate of Wetumpka High School that later graduated with honors from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. One of the factors in selecting Garst for this task was his 37-year career as a Professional Illustrator, serving 20 years as Senior Illustrator and Art Director in the publishing industry.

Garst is an award-winning artist and a signature member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama, Georgia Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, and the International Society of Acrylic Painters. Interestingly, beginning in 1939, the Watercolor Society of Alabama was closely linked to the Dixie Art Colony through the 1940s.

Thank you to Steve Garst for a job well done!
