LUNCH & LEARN: Restoration & Preservation

Join us on Thursday, May 16, 2019, for our next Dixie Art Colony Foundation Lunch & Learn program titled “Restoration & Preservation.”

In PART ONE of this program, we will discuss the restoration of damaged works of art and ephemera. Guests will see examples of work in need of restoration and examples that have been restored.

In PART TWO, we will discuss the actions collectors should take to preserve their artwork. Mediums discussed will be photography, watercolor paintings, drawings and all types of prints on paper and illustration board, as well as oils on canvas and Masonite. Tips about climate control, exposure to light, archival matting, framing, and storage will also be included in the discussion.

Using examples, we will also provide comparison pricing information about various types of restoration, archival matting, 8-ply gallery mats, and various types of glass including museum glass.

The optional lunch will be served at 11:30 am followed by our program. The program will conclude at approximately 1:00 pm.  We will meet in Trinity Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church, located directly across the street from Winn Dixie and McDonald’s at 5375 US Highway 231, Wetumpka, Alabama.

One of the DAC Foundation’s primary objectives is the restoration and preservation of artwork and ephemera related to the Dixie Art Colony.
