A Tribute to Veterans

Join the DAC Foundation on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Trinity Episcopal Church for the 11th Annual Elmore County Tribute to Veterans dedicated to all that served during the Korean War.  The “Gallery of Honor” exhibit, which will include 10 oversized storyboards about the history of Veterans Day and Dixie Art Colony co-founder Kelly Fitzpatrick’s service in World War I, will open at 4:00 pm. The exhibit will also include a new ten-minute video about the history of Veterans Day, brief video about the Korean War and information about DAC artist Arthur Walter Stewart, II and his service in WWII. DAC artist Arthur Stewart, II served as an artist for the US Army during WWII. A collection of Stewart’s artwork produced for the US Army will be included in the exhibition. The concert will begin at 6:30 pm.  Guests can also view the exhibit at the reception which will follow the concert. Trinity Episcopal Church is located across from McDonald’s at 5375 US Highway 231 in Wetumpka, Alabama.

The concert will begin at 6:30 pm. Once again, the performances will delight the audiences with patriotic songs, lively entertainment, and personal recognition of veterans of all branches of service. The featured choir will be The Madrigal Voices of Montgomery under the direction of Gene Davis. The Belle Fleurs, a trio of singers performing in the Andrew Sisters style, will once again perform “Boogey Woogey Bugle Boy.” For the 11th year, “Stars and Stripes Forever” will ring out in the 6-handed style of Trinity Church’s trio: Charlotte Henderson, Barbara Davis, and Elizabeth “Ebba” Dunn. Other performers will include Robert “Robby” Glasscock, percussionist; Justin Hardin, flutist/piccolo; Melanie Perry, trumpeter; Matt King, trumpeter; and Trinity’s own Sarah Cater, pianist; Randy Foster, organist; Ed Pickett, vocalist/guitarist; Barbara Stapp Blanks, soprano; The Singing Men, from Trinity Episcopal Church of Wetumpka and Cornerstone Presbyterian Church of Selma; Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 5375 US Highway 231 in Wetumpka.
