Kelly Fitzpatrick Paint Pallet Donated

We are excited to announce a recent gift by the family of Dixie Art Colony artist Louise Smith Everton. According to Louise Everton's son Angus Everton, prior to his mother's death in 1995, she gave him the oil paint palette last used by artist John Kelly Fitzpatrick. Louise told Angus it had belonged to Fitzpatrick and was given to her prior to his death. Plans are to have the palette framed in a shadow box for inclusion in a display.  The palette has paint on both sides; however, the side shown is the most interesting and contains remnants of some of Fitzpatrick's signature blues.

Fitzpatrick was inspired by Impressionist painters and Post-Impressionists such as Paul Cézanne, Vincent Van Gogh, and Henri Matisse, whose works were prominently featured in the Paris art world in the 1930s. Above all, Fitzpatrick adopted the French artists' love of brilliant color, which is quite prominent in his work.
