EXHIBITION & RECEPTION: Learn about the Jasmine Hill Gardens connection.
Join us along with a group of Plein Air Artists at Jasmine Hill Gardens. The DAC Foundation will present "The Jasmine Hill Connection," an exhibition about the history of Jasmine Hill Gardens and the connection to Kelly Fitzpatrick and the Dixie Art Colony. The exhibit will also include a Fitzpatrick Family Tree. There will be a $10:00 admission fee payable to the Jasmine Hill Foundation.

Presentation & Video: Dixie Art Colony: A Look at Its Lasting Legacy.
The 45-minute program will feature a video and slideshow about the Dixie Art Colony and its participants. Included will be vintage photographs from the DAC Foundation archives and slides showing examples of the colonists' work. This presentation will be one of a series of ten programs that will be part of the Birmingham Museum of Art's "2018 Art & Conversation" series. The program is open to the public, but registration is limited. Single programs are $17 for non-members and $12 for BMA Members. To register visit the BMA website at: ArtsBMA.org or call 205-328-7628. The painting shown from the Birmingham Museum of Art Collection was painted by Genevieve Southerland of Hannah Elliott. Both were active participants in the Dixie Art Colony.

LUNCH & LEARN Celebrate the Life of Kelly Fitzpatrick: Aug. 15, 1988 – Apr. 18, 1953
Join us for a rare look at a 1950 scrapbook complied by some of Fitzpatrick's students at the Alabama Gulf Coast spin-off colony. The scrapbook includes sketch paintings by many of the artists that participated in the spin-off colony. The presentation will also include a slideshow about Fitzpatrick's career. Of course the desert of the day will be a Birthday Cake honoring Fitzpatrick.

PAINT-OUT EVENT: DAC Nobles Ferry
Join the DAC Foundation and local artists Shirley Esco, Barbara Binford Davis and Carol Barksdale at Nobles Ferry on Lake Jordan for a very unique painting experience. During the 1930s and 1940s artists that attended the Dixie Art Colony were asked to paint a square panel on the tin ceiling of the colony studio. Many of the whimsical compositions, including the one shown by well-known artist Arthur Stewart, have been preserved. At this event, artists will be supplied a square Masonite 20" x 20" panels to paint a whimsical composition similar to those of the original colonists. The new panels will be displayed in the new studio at Nobles Ferry. A limited number of reservations with be accepted.

Join us for lunch and plain air painting at the historic Mehearg/Fitzpatrick Farm located 460 Mehearg Road, Wetumpka, Alabama. The farm was once owned by Gov. Benjamin Fitzpatrick and later artist Kelly Fitzpatrick. This site is known to have been one Kelly's frequent painting spots.[RESERVATIONS REQUIRED]
