Maurice Clabaugh is a graduate of Ball State University-College of Business and holds a doctorate from the University of Alabama-Manderson Graduate School of Business.
Without any formal art training, he began turning wood in 1991. Clabaugh uses only found woods and never cuts trees for his art. He uses primarily southern hardwoods. Clabaugh creates pieces designed to draw special attention to nature's unique variations in each piece of wood he turns. He is a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Alabama Woodturners Association, and his work has received numerous awards.
