DAC Foundation April Event Photographs

Despite the threat of severe weather, our April 18, 2019, Dixie Art Colony Foundation event, "A Retrospective of the Works of Arthur Walter Stewart," at the home of Carol and Rusty Stewart was well attended. We would like to express a special thank you to the Stewart family and to the brave soles that ventured out for the event. We are grateful that the state of Alabama was spared from any severe storm damage and that all of our guests arrived home safely.

Shown above are 21 photographs from the event.

Those that attended were provided an opportunity to view artwork by Dixie Art Colony artist Arthur Stewart displayed throughout Carol and Rusty Stewart’s beautiful home located in Birmingham's Redmont Park area. Guests were also able to view vintage photographs, a slideshow about Arthur’s life and career and a few of his rarely shown sketchbooks and watercolor illustrations. The watercolor illustrations that Arthur completed while serving in the Army during WWII will be featured in our November 11, 2019, exhibition "A Tribute to Dixie Art Colony Veterans.” The exhibition will include Dixie Art Colony artists that served in the United States military during WWI and WWII.

In addition to Arthur Stewart's family, family members of Dixie Art Colony artists Martha Goings, Norma Forbes, and Jane McRae were also in attendance.
